Intro to VAMPING WITH DAVE

Welcome and thank you for joining us! In this course, we are going to explore Vamping.

Vamping is a technique that is different from Comping. While comping involves accompanying a soloist or melody by playing chords in a rhythmic and harmonically supportive manner, vamping focuses on creating a feeling or rhythmic style through a repeated or looped series of chords.

Think of vamping as the musical equivalent of creating a groove or a groove pattern. It is a way to establish a rhythmic foundation that sets the mood and feel of a piece of music. Vamps are often used in various genres like jazz, funk, R&B, and even rock. They can be used as intros, outros, verse sections, or even as a basis for improvisation.

Please join Dave and add excitement, energy, and a sense of cohesion to your playing skills.

Learning online means you can go as slow or quick as you wish. You can pause, repeat and jump around. It gives you a lot of freedom to learn in your own unique way. Some parts of lessons you will do multiple times and that's OK, no one is watching! Enjoy!
